LUKE 9:62
“But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hands to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
MESSAGE
There’s a commitment in pursing Jesus that we must acknowledge, and this versus sums it up.
Following Christ requires of us our eyes, mind, and heart to be forward. A farmer on a plow cannot ensure straight lines and do a good job if he’s looking behind him.
Looking back as believers of Christ is the beginning to backsliding. Backsliding is reverting to sin, and wrongdoing.
God can forgive and save you from backsliding, however, sometimes that lifestyle can consume you to no return.
How To Avoid Backsliding:
– Get a few spiritual leaders
– Cutting off evil associations
– Stop chasing worldly success
– Don’t be shallow, go deeper with Jesus
– Fill your empty spots with the Holy Spirit
– Ask God for revelations and spiritual insight
– Check your heart. Love for the world makes you an enemy to God
We can’t say Lord Lord from the lips and be far in our heart. The righteous and obedient will inherit the kingdom. Let us fix our mind, body, and soul on Jesus.
The old you may have had more friends, options, or whatever. But the you in Christ is a greater gain, and the rewards will be everlasting!
PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
