Matthew 15:17-20 NKJV
“Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”
MESSAGE
Jesus reminded His disciples that the evils done in this world comes from a persons heart. What we eat, drink, and overall consume (with dirty hands) doesn’t defile us. It also doesn’t aid as a demonstration of who is clean or who is unclean.
Let us continue to seek God and ask Him to clean our hearts. We shower daily. We wash our hands several times a day. How do we wash our heart?
Repent. Ask God to transform our minds—so the evil thoughts don’t reach our hearts (anymore).
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank you for reminding us through your Word that our heart posture is central to our walk with you. Lord, you said many will parade like they know you but their hearts will be far—let us not be those you described. Wash our hearts with your word. Renew our minds with your word. That from our mouth we speak only what profits and edify each other. Thank You for hearing and guiding us. In Jesus name, Amen!
